Spending Time in Bandung, West Java

Bandung, the capital city of West Java is a city with a population range from 2 million people. The city is also a center of holidays at the weekend. Bandung has an awful lot of the places that became a center of attention to visit this city with family and friends. So, Bandung is the busiest second city in Indonesia at the weekend.

Historical place to visit :
Gedung Sate (Satay Building)
Gedung Sate, it is named Gedung Sate or "Satay building" because of the shape of it’s main roof and was designed based on a combination of Italian and local architectures, Islamic and Hindu. Now, Gedung Sate is the office of the West Java Governor.

A museum or art gallery :
Barli Museum
Museum Barli exhibits mainly paintings of Barli Sasmitawinata and his son Agung. Barli's paintings are predominantly influenced by daily life. Museum Barli is also often used for fine art exhibitions, selling art works, discussion, training and workshop. One of their workshops is the fine art course for kids and adults. While the works of art of Barli are displayed on 2nd and 3rd floor.

Shopping – where to go / what to buy :
Riau and Dago Street
Jalan Riau is a must-visit during your Bandung trip, it’s best known for its factory outlets – you will be spoilt with choice. Make sure to wear comfy shoes, as one can spend up to half a day walking from outlet to outlet along the street. Similar to Jalan Riau, the Dago area is home to factory outlets. They carry more boutique brands with great styles.

Best view :
Tebing Keraton (Keraton Cliff)
Tebing Keraton or Keraton Cliff is located on the same hill with Taman Hutan Juanda. The view is magnificent and calming. Catching the sunrise is the best moment to enjoy the beauty of Bandung view. Before reaching Tebing keraton, you'll spot a cafe, D'Pakar cafe with nice view and cozy ambience.

Somewhere for the kids :  
Trans Studio Indoor Theme Park
It's the second  indoor theme park in Indonesia offers a total of 20 rides and five daily cabaret shows in three different zones, all of which cater to the entire family. A common favorite is the “Yamaha Racing Coaster,” one of the fastest roller coasters in the world that can also move backward, while the “Science Center” offers over 50 edutainment games, making it Indonesia’s biggest science-themed play center. 

Best restaurant :
Dapur Dahapati
Dapur Dahapati is the highly recommended answer for those seeking to taste the very famous oxtail soup in Bandung: the sop buntut. It's not difficult to find, as everyone around knows about this restaurant set in a classic Dutch house. What makes the oxtail soup more special at Dapur Dahapati is their delicious thick sauce and the fact that they use a recipe that has been shared over generations. 

Evening entertaintment :
Saung Angklung Udjo (Angklung Udjo Cave)
The performance at Saung Angklung Udjo features the Angklung, but also incorporates Wayang Golek (wooden puppets), traditional dance, and the children’s orchestra into the show. As an education center, children attend their regular school in the morning, and study music here in the afternoon.
